Proposal would allow street performers at Fremont Experience if they keep their distance

Sometimes, fights over free expression involve rights of assembly or school prayer. And sometimes the issues are harps, Hula-Hoops and talking parrots. Those were some points discussed Tuesday as Las Vegas officials pondered an ordinance that might end years of litigation over what is allowed under the Fremont Street Experience’s giant video screen.

Parade to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day begins at 10 a.m.

Now in its 29th year, the festive downtown parade, which starts at 10 a.m. Monday, has about 150 entries, including floats, marching bands, pint-sized cheerleaders, police cruisers, and youth sports and drill teams.
