Chance of rain decreases in Las Vegas Valley

Updated March 22, 2017 - 6:33 pm

This week’s rain forecast might not be as likely as originally anticipated by the National Weather Service.

“For several days the weather models have indicated that a band of showers and thunderstorms would develop this afternoon,” the weather service said Wednesday morning on Twitter. “However … Over the past 3 days those models have gradually shifted the band further east.”

Thursday has a 30 percent chance for showers “mostly over by the mountains,” meteorologist Andy Gorelow said. A 71-degree high and winds between 10 and 20 mph are expected.

Friday should be dry with a high of 74 degrees before Saturday’s 20 percent chance for showers and a forecast 71-degree high, meteorologist John Salmen said.

Sunday’s forecast is dry with a high of 71 degrees.

Overnight lows through the weekend should be in the low-to-mid 50s, the weather service said.
