February, March warmer than average in Las Vegas

Both February and March were about 4 degrees warmer than average, according to the National Weather Service.

And April could bring the year’s first 90-degree day on Monday.

Not only was this February the third-warmest February on record but, this March has been quite warm as well, Weather Service meteorologist John Salmen said Thursday.

The average high for February was 70 degrees and the average high for March was 75 degrees, Salmen said.

The Las Vegas Valley should see warmer temperatures through the weekend, according to the Weather Service.

Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 75 degrees and winds up to 10 mph, and the valley is getting “gradually warmer,” meteorologist Todd Lericos said.

The valley will be up to 79 by Saturday. Sunday’s high should get to 83 degrees and Monday, upper 80s to 90.

“It will only warm up from there,” Lericos said.

The valley has not reached 90 degrees yet this year.
