Rain expected over the weekend for the Las Vegas Valley

The National Weather Service is expecting mostly sunny skies and dry weather in the valley Sunday.

Sunday’s sunny skies will be paired with a forecast high of 60 degrees.

“What’s left of the wet weather” should subside by Sunday, meteorologist Barry Pierce said.

Mostly sunny skies will stick around for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Pierce said. The holiday should reach 57 degrees. Temperature highs for the rest of the week should linger in the mid-50s.

The Weather Service predicts rain may return next Wednesday night with a 20 percent chance of showers. The likeliness of showers will rise to 30 percent Thursday and Friday.

Pierce said because of the precipitation, there is an “unsettled chance” for more snow in the mountains next Saturday.
