Stronger winds, cooler weather to blow into Las Vegas Valley

While parts of the Las Vegas Valley reached 100 degrees Friday, temperatures have cooled down.

The official high for the valley Friday, recorded at McCarran International Airport, reached 99 degrees, but other parts of the valley were hotter.

“We got up to 100 degrees here at the office,” which is just south of the airport, National Weather Service meteorologist Caleb Steele said.

Saturday saw a high of 97 degrees with southwest winds about 20 mph in the late afternoon. Winds are expected to stick around through the weekend but won’t be as strong, Steele said.

Sunday’s forecast high is 89 degrees, and clouds are expected to increase, the weather service said.

Monday will see a high near 88 degrees, and Tuesday will be even cooler with a high of 84 degrees.

“We’ll have a chance of a sprinkle or two in the area by Tuesday,” Steele said about the 15 percent chance of rain.

Temperatures are expected to rise again starting Wednesday, the weather service said.
