Sunny and 80s for Las Vegas Valley through the weekend

The Las Vegas Valley is expecting a warm and sunny weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A high-pressure system will keep the weather nice over the weekend and cause it to warm up slightly, meteorologist John Salmen said.

Thursday saw a high of 81 degrees and a low of 57 degrees, Salmen said.

A high near 86 degrees and a low of 64 degrees are expected Friday, according to the weather service.

The normal temperature for this time of year is about 79 degrees, so temperatures are 5 to 9 degrees above normal, Salmen said.

Saturday’s forecast high is 88 degrees and Sunday will see a high near 86 degrees. Winds are expected to stay between 10 and 15 miles per hour over the weekend. Come Monday the valley may see stronger winds and gusts between 20 to 25 mph, Salmen said.

The valley will have a 20 percent chance of rain from Sunday through Monday night, Salmen said.
