Warm temps and clear skies expected as Las Vegas welcomes 2018

Above average temperatures and mostly sunny skies will welcome the new year in the Las Vegas Valley.

“We’ve got a pretty quiet and uneventful forecast,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Caleb Steele. “So no winds and a few high clouds from time to time.”

A high of 66 degrees is forecast Saturday, followed by a 64-degree high on New Year’s Eve. Those celebrating the new year in the valley can expect a low of 46 degrees Sunday night, the weather service said.

The first day of the year will see a 66-degree high and clear skies, with highs reaching near 63 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The average forecast high for this time of the year is 56 degrees, Steele said.

No rain is expected through Wednesday.
