Warm weather continues, may see break Thursday

Close-to-record highs will continue in the valley until Thursday, when temps will take a nosedive, according to the National Weather Service.

Though Tuesday's morning low will hit 49 degrees, the high is expected to reach 78, just 3 degrees shy of the record-high temperature set in 2014, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Outler said. Wednesday's high is expected to jump to 80 degrees, Outler said.

But Thursday, the valley will catch a cool break — the high is forecast for 68 degrees; the low 46.

That drop will come after a quick system moves through the valley starting Wednesday night, which will bring cloudy skies and a small chance of precipitation in the mountains, Outler said.

After that, temperatures are expected to return to the springlike conditions Las Vegas has seen for the past few weeks.
