ROUNDUP: Hartle sets course record as Bulldogs breeze to quad-meet win

Nick Hartle set a course record to lead host Centennial’s boys cross country team to victory in a four-team meet Wednesday.

Hartle won in 12:46 on the 2.47-mile course.

Shadow Ridge’s Kyle Wilson was second in 13:10, followed by Kyle Merritt in 13:24 for Centennial, which placed four of the top five finishers.

Centennial won with 20 points, followed by Shadow Ridge (40) and Moapa Valley (92).

Jalani wins photo finish
At Desert Breeze, Bishop Gorman’s Julian Jalani (13:44.3) edged Clark’s Basabose Bahati (13:44.8) to win a 2.5-mile race.

Durango, which placed three runners in the top six, won the meet with 34 points. Gorman (44) was second, followed by Clark (73) and Adelson (86).

Vazquez helps Grizzlies to win
At Desert Oasis, Carlos Vazquez won on a 3.1-mile course in 18:44 to help Spring Valley win a three-team meet.

Royce Rasmussen added a second-place finish for the Grizzlies in 18:58, and Desert Oasis’ Alex Kushner took third in 19:10.

Spring Valley won with 22 points, followed by Desert Oasis (49) and Pahrump Valley (61).

Price leads Mountain Lions to win
At Sierra Vista, Davawn Price won on a 2.5-mile course in 14:29 to lead the host Mountain Lions to victory in a four-team meet.

Bonanza’s Mike Clements took second in 14:46, and Sierra Vista’s Alec Demarrias was third in 14:51.

In team scoring, Sierra Vista won with 26 points, followed by Bonanza (40), Western (69) and The Meadows (75).

 

At Arroyo Grande Park, Doug Harris led a parade of four Green Valley runners to the finish line, completing a 3.1-mile race in 17:27 as the Gators breezed to a win.

 

Green Valley had a team score of 18. Australia Select was second with 42, followed by Las Vegas with 86 and Del Sol with 113.

 

The Gators' Alex Bylina took second in 17:31 with teammates Michael Patrino and Nick Rudolph both finishing in 18:06.

 

At Sunrise Mountain, Chaparral placed four runners in the top seven and posted a 25-32 win over the Miners.

 

Canyon Springs' John Snead won the 3.1-mile race in 17:35, seven seconds faster than Chaparral's Carlos Berrelleza. The Pioneers' Daniel Martinez was third in 18:48. Canyon Springs had only four runners and didn't qualify in the team competition.
