The junior set a national record in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 4½ inches at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Clarissa Maxey

The senior won the 100-meter dash in 11.88 seconds, the 200 in 25.01 and the 400 in 56.79 at the Arbor View Invitational. Maxey also ran on the winning 1,600 relay team to help the Crusaders to the team title.

HEAD OF THE CLASS

ARBOR VIEW — Baseball player Sam Pastrone struck out seven and allowed two runs on two hits in four innings and went 2-for-4 with a bases-loaded triple in a 10-2 win over Cimarron-Memorial. Softball player Bryce Henricksen batted .571 with four RBIs, four runs and two stolen bases over three games.

DESERT OASIS — Girls track athlete Brooke Locey placed first in the 1,600-meter run in a dual meet with Arbor View. Baseball player Nolan Kingham threw a six-hitter with nine strikeouts in a 6-0 win over Bonanza.

FAITH LUTHERAN — Baseball player Zach Trageton was 3-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs and also pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts to help the Crusaders to wins over Bonanza and Sierra Vista.

LEGACY — Girls track athlete Alexys Saiz placed second in the long jump and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles at the Arbor View Invitational.

PALO VERDE — Boys golfer Jack Trent shot 4-under-par 68 at Bear’s Best and 1-over 73 at Spanish Trail to lead the Panthers to a pair of Southwest League wins.

SHADOW RIDGE — Softball player Alisha Schultz threw a five-hitter and hit a double in a 14-1 win over Bishop Gorman. Baseball player Trevin Reynolds had the game-winning hit and picked up the victory on the mound in a 6-5 win over Palo Verde.

SIERRA VISTA — Softball player Kalei Watkins hit a total of four home runs in wins over Cheyenne and Mojave. Swimmer Ian Cook posted personal bests to win the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke against Desert Oasis

SILVERADO — Girls track athlete Monet Salazar posted a mark of 134 feet, 2 inches in the discus at the Arcadia (Calif.) Invitational. Boys track athlete Vernon Jackson jumped 22-8 in the long jump at the Arcadia Invitational.
