BASEBALL: Marco’s RBI walk lifts Spartans over Crusaders

Alexander Marco walked with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh to force home Niko Decolati and give Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team a 5-4 home win over Faith Lutheran on Tuesday.

Decolati singled to left to lead off the inning, and Jamie Yanchisin followed with an infield single. One out later, Tyler Giovinco walked to load the bases.

Erich Uelmen replaced Jordan Dreibelbis on the mound and walked Marco on five pitches.

Trevor Lippard was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Cimarron, which scored four runs in the bottom of the first.

Yanchisin added two hits for the Spartans.

Uelmen had a double and two RBIs for the Crusaders, who scored a run in the top of the fifth to tie the game, 4-4.

Basic 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Taylor Ferdinand went the distance, scattering eight hits, to lead the Wolves over the Longhorns.

Ferdinand was efficient, throwing 50 of 65 pitches for strikes. He struck out five and walked one.

Basic scored two runs in the third without a hit. The Wolves added a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Jack Wold.

Donta Williams was 3-for-3 for Legacy.

Bonanza 8, Foothill 7 — At Bonanza, Hunter Junge’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning put the Bengals up 8-5, and they held on to nip the Falcons.

Jonathan Massey earned the win, and Chris Roberts provided a four-out save for Bonanza, which got a three-run homer from Alec Taft in the bottom of the third inning to tie it, 4-4.

Zack Avery had two hits and three RBIs, and Collin Dobrolecki supplied a triple and three runs for Foothill. Ryan Moyes doubled, walked twice and was hit by a pitch for the Falcons, who scored twice in the top of the seventh to pull within a run.

Del Sol 7, Moapa Valley 1 — At Del Sol, Matt Styck struck out eight in a three-hitter, and the Dragons used a seven-run sixth inning to beat the Pirates.

Stanley Natale was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Del Sol, and teammate Christian Wallace added three RBIs.

Chad Jones led Moapa Valley with a double and a triple.

Silverado 10, Eldorado 0 — At Silverado, Nick Kawano threw a two-hitter and the Skyhawks erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to top the Sundevils in five innings.

Kawano struck out seven with no walks.

James Skelly went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and Dillon Johnson was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI for Silverado.

Green Valley 12, Palo Verde 1 — At Palo Verde, Jarod Penniman doubled, tripled, scored twice and drove in two runs, and Keaton Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Gators routed the Panthers in five innings.

Cody Milner went 2-for-3, and Ryan Jackson tossed a two-hitter with six strikeouts for Green Valley.

Colin Janison and Bradley Lewis each hit a double for Palo Verde.

Tech 12, Mojave 2 — At Mojave, Abel Martinez struck out 10 in five innings as the Roadrunners pounded the Rattlers.

Jayce Otis went 3-for-3 with four RBIs to lead Tech, and teammate Jalen Birch added a double and two RBIs.

Tyson Goodrich hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for Mojave.

Canyon Springs 15, Sunrise Mountain 10 — At Sunrise Mountain, winning pitcher Jordan Gainey went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs as the Pioneers held off the Miners.

Isiah Carter supplied a two-run double for Canyon Springs, which scored six runs in the top of the seventh to break a 9-9 tie. A.J. Cooper stole five bases for the Pioneers.

Boulder City 12, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Boulder City, Peyton Koopman was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Preston VanDiest was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs as the Eagles downed the Trojans.

Will Knudsen was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Colton Bosnos went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Boulder City, which scored six runs in the fifth to end the game by the 10-run rule.

Lincoln County 33-26, Calvary Chapel 2-0 — At Panaca, Derek Shumway went 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs and also pitched three scoreless innings as the Lynx completed a sweep of the Lions.

Colton Johnson went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Zack Shinkle finished 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs for Lincoln County, which pounded out 18 hits in the second game.

Mike Wood was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Christian Florence went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs in the opener as the Lynx erupted for 15 runs in the second inning and 10 runs in the third.

Shinkle added three hits, and Paul Boag doubled twice for Lincoln County in the first game. McClain O’Connor and Shumway also had two hits apiece.

Needles 15-11, Laughlin 1-2 — At Needles, William Dunn was 5-for-7 with four RBIs to help the Mustangs to the sweep.

Aidan Shaver was 5-for-8 with four RBIs, and went the distance, allowing six hits and striking out nine to get the win in the second game.
