I-A BASEBALL: Mark O’Connor pitches Cowboys past Sierra Vista

Mark O’Connor threw a two-hitter for his eighth shutout of the season to lead Chaparral to a 5-0 home win over Sierra Vista in the Division I-A Southern Region tournament on Tuesday.

O’Connor struck out 10 with no walks.

Robert O’Connor was 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and two runs for the Cowboys (20-8), who got two hits apiece from Chris Sedillo and Eddie Lopez.

Dylan White doubled twice to lead the Mountain Lions (15-17).

Chaparral plays at Faith Lutheran (22-8) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Vista hosts Del Sol (16-13) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Boulder City 13, Clark 1 — At Boulder City, Peyton Koopman went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs and pitched two hitless innings with three strikeouts to help the Eagles to the five-inning win over the Chargers.

Nolan Desantis went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs, and Austin Wishard was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI for Boulder City (22-7), which hosts Spring Valley (21-8) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kodey Rahr added three RBIs for the Eagles.

Matthew Thompson went 1-for-2 with a run for Clark (14-16), which plays at Tech (12-17) in an elimination game at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Spring Valley 10, Tech 2 — At Spring Valley, Jaxson Otis went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI, and Jack Sellinger was 2-for-4 with three RBIs as the Grizzlies topped the Roadrunners.

Jonathen Bakken went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Antony Vasquez was 1-for-3 with three RBIs for Spring Valley.

Logan Campbell went 2-for-3, and teammates David Gulasarian and Drew Cole each had RBI singles for Tech.

Faith Lutheran 18, Del Sol 4 — At Faith Lutheran, Jake Koentopp was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to help the Crusaders to the five-inning win over the Dragons.

Zach Trageton went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs, and Brandon Davis was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran.

Liam Bredin went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs for the Crusaders.

Aaron Squires was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Del Sol.
