ROUNDUP: Giordano, fourth-inning burst power Cougars past Patriots

Taylor Giordano went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, and Coronado’s baseball team erased a 3-2 deficit by scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Monday on its way to a 9-4 win over visiting Liberty.

Dillon Fahr was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Jordan Scott went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI for the Cougars. Tyler Brown was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs for Coronado.

Marcos Rivera belted a two-run home run in Liberty’s three-run fourth inning.

Green Valley 11, Foothill 10 — At Foothill, Brett Harrison went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, and the Gators grabbed an 11-3 lead in the fifth inning before holding on to slip past the Falcons.

Foothill scored twice in the fifth and five times in the sixth, but Green Valley reliever James Durbin stranded two runners in the sixth, and worked out of a jam in the seventh after the Falcons had runners at first and second with no outs.

Evan Van Hoosier went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a double, and Phillip McGovern added a solo shot and a double for Green Valley. Zack Vergiels was 2-for-4 with two doubles for the Gators.

Dylan Rodrigues and Gabby Soto each had two hits and two RBIs for Foothill. Brandon Van Stone was 2-for-3, and Dayton Kurian added a solo homer for the Falcons.

Silverado 14, Basic 4 — At Basic, the Skyhawks scored 13 runs over the final two innings to top the Wolves.

Winning pitcher Josh Bravin was 3-for-5 with three runs for Silverado, which trailed 4-1 entering the sixth. Wyatt Reid went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI for the Skyhawks, who scored seven runs in the sixth and six in the seventh.

Basic’s Thomas Wells was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Matt Dembinski went 2-for-2 with a double for the Wolves.

Chaparral 13, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Chaparral, Jordan January was a single away from hitting for the cycle, finishing 3-for-3 with six RBIs, to lead the Cowboys past the Miners in five innings.

January and Bryan Newman hit solo homers for Chaparral, and Kyle Scott was 2-for-3.

Chaparral’s Ciros Burdier pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Rancho 23, Valley 2 — At Rancho, Brandon Pletsch tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, a triple and five RBIs as the Rams rolled to the five-inning win over the Vikings.

Jason Turner was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and three RBIs, and Scott Koenen went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double for Rancho.

Kevin Kline and Justin Pankratz each homered and tripled, and Michael Cruz was 3-for-4 with a double for the Rams.

Marcus Mejia hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning for Valley.

Del Sol 14, Tech 4 — At Del Sol, Joey Baggs went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to help the Dragons defeated the Roadrunners in five innings.

Del Sol’s David Day was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer. Justin Chronister went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs for the Dragons, and Dylan Greer was 3-for-4.

Las Vegas 15, Eldorado 1 — At Las Vegas High, Brady Page was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs as the Wildcats blasted the Sundevils in five innings.

Las Vegas scored six runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-1 lead.

Desert Pines 15, Canyon Springs 10 — At Desert Pines, Roberto Hernandez and Saul Navarrete each had two hits, two runs and three RBIs to lead the Jaguars past the Pioneers.

Camilo Murillo went 3-for-4 with four runs for Desert Pines, and Adam Leclere and Cody Tolliver each added two hits. Joy Guevara hit a two-run homer for the Jaguars.

Rusty Marquetti went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs to lead Canyon Springs, and Carlos Dozal was 3-for-4 with two runs for the Pioneers.
