ROUNDUP: Harman’s double gives Chaparral tournament title

Zach Harman’s bases-loaded single to the right-center-field gap with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday plated Chad Clark with the winning run as Chaparral’s baseball team rallied for an 11-10 win over Mojave in the championship game of the Desert Pines Tournament.

The Cowboys scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to tie the game.

Consecutive singles by Luis Giro and Clark and a walk to Tad Pushard loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning. After a force out at home, Harman lined a shot into the gap to end the game.

Tommy Crone went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs and pitched two perfect innings in relief, striking out five, to earn the win for Chaparral,

Mark Nick O’Connor was 2-for-2 with four runs and two RBIs, and Eduardo Jimenez was 2-for-3 with two runs for the Cowboys.

Tyler Ledgister was 3-for-4 with three runs for the Rattlers.

Mojave 7, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Chase Anderson went 2-for-2 with two runs and two walks to lead the Rattlers over the Jaguars in the semifinals of the Desert Pines Tournament.

Mojave scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-5 lead and held on for the win.

Desert Pines 11, Canyon Springs 6 — 
At Desert Pines, Jose Avelino struck out six in 4 2/3 innings of relief as the Jaguars topped the Pioneers in five innings in the Desert Pines Tournament.

Iquan Corsey was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Desert Pines.

Bonanza 4, Liberty 2 — At Spring Valley, Robert Higgs was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help the Bengals top the Patriots in the Grizzly-Bengal Spring Break Invitational.

Austin Taft went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Bonanza, which took a 3-0 lead after two innings.

Dave Estrada went the distance, allowing one earned run on five hits, to get the win.

Dan Skelly had two hits for Liberty.

Bonanza 6, Spring Valley 3 — At Spring Valley, Alec Taft was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to power the Bengals over the Grizzlies in the Grizzly-Bengal Spring Break Invitational.

Brett Doyle was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Bonanza. Nick Risucci scattered seven hits and struck out six in six innings to get the win.

Legacy 9, Western 8 —
At Spring Valley, Joey Ingarra doubled to right-center field with no outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Longhorns the win in the Grizzly-Bengal Spring Break Invitational.

Ingarra also had a key two-run single in Legacy’s three-run seventh. The Longhorns tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Quentin Ewing to force extra innings.

Ingarra was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a run.

Javier Ruiz and Ryan Garbowski each had three hits for Western.

Vauxhall (Canada) 10, Bishop Gorman 10 —
At Gorman, the Gaels plated a run in the bottom of the seventh and the game ended in a tie due to a tournament time limit in the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic.

Mike Blasko fell behind 0-2 with two outs, but worked an eight-pitch at-bat and doubled home the tying run for the Gaels.

Cole Krzmarzick was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI, and Kenny Meimerstorf went 2-for-4 with a homer and an RBI for Gorman, which trailed 9-0 going into the bottom of the second.

Kai Domingo came on in relief and threw 5 2/3 strong innings, allowing one run on four hits. Domingo struck out 10 and walked two.

Green Valley 5, Corona del Sol (Ariz.) 1 — At Scottsdale, Ariz., Anthony Hatch’s bunt single scored Jarrett Perns with the go-ahead run and keyed a four-run seventh inning to help the Gators top Corona del Sol in the Big League Dugout National Invitational.

Michael Hillcoat was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Cody Milner was 1-for-3 with a double for Green Valley, which tied the game with a run in the sixth inning.

Rancho 5, Ralston Valley (Colo.) 4 — At Tucson, Ariz., Kiefer McLendon went 3-for-3 with a double and picked up the win in relief as the Rams nipped Ralston Valley in the Cherry Field Classic.

McLendon, David Modler and Andrew Wieger all doubled during a three-run fourth inning that gave the Rams a 4-3 lead. After Ralston Valley scored in the top of the sixth, McLendon singled to lead off the bottom of the inning and was lifted for pinch-runner Josh Mill, who moved to third on a pair of bunts and scored on a passed ball.

Rancho 13, Pusch Ridge Academy (Ariz.) 1 — At Tucson, Ariz., McLendon went 2-for-4 with a double, a game-ending three-run home run and four RBIs as the Rams rolled to a five-inning win in the Cherry Field Classic.

Bryce Harrell was 3-for-3, and Modler had two doubles for Rancho, which got two hits from Cody Suarez.

Jose Verdugo tossed a three-hitter and struck out five for the Rams.

Coronado 4, Granite Hills (Calif.) 3 — At El Cajon, Calif., Chandler Blanchard hit a grand slam in the first inning and the Cougars held on for the win in the Lions Tournament.

Blanchard also picked up the victory, allowing three runs on six hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Bonita Vista (Calif.) 4, Silverado 2 — At Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to top the Skyhawks in the Lions Tournament.

Chase Cortez was 2-for-3 for Silverado.

Castle Park (Calif.) 7, Boulder City 1 — At Chula Vista, Calif., Javier Vega threw a one-hitter to lead Castle Park over the Eagles in the Lions Tournment.
