ROUNDUP: Skelly, Patriots top Mountain Lions in eight innings

Dan Skelly’s two-out RBI single in the top of the eighth inning plated pinch-runner Giovanni Battistoni win the winning run Saturday as Liberty’s baseball team outlasted host Sierra Vista, 4-3.

Liberty carried a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before a passed ball with two outs allowed Derron Davis to score the tying run.

Jesse Keiser was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Mike Vargas went 2-for-3 for the Patriots. Skelly finished 3-for-4 for Liberty.

Tyler Burdett was 1-for-4 with two RBIs for the Mountain Lions.

Foothill 6, Boulder City 1 — At Boulder City, Tyler Morris went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs to help the Falcons down the Eagles.

Dayton Kurian was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Foothill, which had five pitchers combine on a five-hitter.

Thomas Shelley was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Boulder City.

Durango 5, Cheyenne Mountain (Colo.) 2 — At Durango, Anthony Martine and Anthony Parry combined on a four-hitter as the Trailblazers topped Cheyenne Mountain.

Martine struck out nine in six innings.

Jacob Dismont went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Bobby Wright was 2-for-3 with a double for Durango.

Shadow Ridge 17, Highland (Utah) 6 — At St. George, Utah, Logan Hold went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and five RBIs to lead the Mustangs to a six-inning win over Highland in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Demetrios Phillipou went 3-for-3 with four runs and two RBIs, and Ben Fitzhugh was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge, which got a double and three RBIs from Mike Wager.

Also for the Mustangs, Chad Rillos was 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored, and Travis Caskie went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Shadow Ridge 9, Westlake (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, Wager was 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs to help the Mustangs down Westlake in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Hold went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, and Rillos was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Las Vegas 6, Sky View (Utah) 5 — At St. George, Utah, Damiko Mack and Daniel Ouzts each had two hits, and the Wildcats withstood a Sky View rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to collect a win in the Snow Canyon Classic.

The Wildcats carried a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh before Sky View struck for four runs.

Las Vegas 11, Highland (Utah) 1 — At St. George, Utah, Tyler Tidwell tossed a six-inning four-hitter as the Wildcats downed the Rams in the Snow Canyon Classic.

Dustin Cash had three hits, including a double, and four RBIs, and Mack added three hits for Las Vegas.
