SMALL-SCHOOL BASEBALL: The Meadows walks into Division III Southern League final

The Meadows drew 19 walks in four innings Friday en route to a 20-5 victory over Lake Mead in the Division III Southern League baseball tournament at Laughlin.

The win moved the Mustangs (15-7-1) into championship round at 10 a.m. Saturday against Lincoln County (18-7). The Meadows would have to win twice to earn the legue title. Both teams advance to next week’s state tournament.

Adam Martinez was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and Alex Agrawal and Justin Tanaka each added two RBIs.

Joseph Johnson went 3-for-3 for Lake Mead (15-8).

Lincoln County advanced to the championship with a 7-1 win over The Meadows earlier on Friday.

Lake Mead 9, Needles 4 — Johnson allowed one earned run on five hits as the Eagles eliminated the Mustangs earlier on Friday.

Mitchell Dolinar had a double and two RBIs, and Hunter Harris scored three runs for Lake Mead.

Jayden Yeager drove in two runs for Needles (17-8).

DIVISION IV

Tabor Maxwell tossed a five-inning two-hitter to lead host Pahranagat Valley to a 13-2 win over Indian Springs in the winners’ bracket final of the Division IV Southern Region tournament.

Maxwell struck out eight and walked five.

Shawn Wadsworth was 1-for-1 with four RBIs, and Garett Higbee was 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for Pahranagat Valley (22-3), which had just five hits.

The Panthers will face Indian Springs (12-6) again in the region final at 10 a.m. Saturday. If necessary, Pahranagat Valley will have two chances to win the region crown. Both teams advance to the state tournament.

Manny Zavala was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Indian Springs, which rebounded to beat Round Mountain, 14-3 in five innings in the losers’ bracket final.

Round Mountain (15-8-1) outlasted Tonopah, 10-9 in 10 innings in Friday’s second game. The Muckers finished 9-13.
