ROUNDUP: Bennett’s big fourth quarter lifts Findlay Prep to tourney title

Anthony Bennett entered the fourth quarter Saturday with no points for Findlay Prep’s basketball team.
Eight minutes later, Bennett had 12 points, a tournament title and a spot on the all-tournament team.
A 6-foot-8-inch 230-pound forward, Bennett scored all of Findlay Prep’s fourth-quarter points as the Pilots pulled out a 48-39 win over Huntington (W.Va.) Prep in the championship game of the Montverde (Fla.) Academy Invitational Tournament.
Findlay Prep (24-2), ranked No. 8 in the nation by USA Today, trailed 23-22 at the half and held only a 36-32 lead entering the fourth quarter before Bennett took over.
Nick Johnson led the Pilots with 16 points, and Myck Kabongo scored 14. Kabongo was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and Johnson joined Bennett on the all-tournament team.
Jeremiah Davis led Huntington Prep with 10 points.
Laughlin 65, Lincoln County 63 — At Laughlin, Andre Prosise’s jumper with 18 seconds left broke a 63-all tie, and the Cougars survived a last-second 3-point attempt by the Lynx to post the win.
Prosise finished with 24 points, and Kris Suhr added 20 points and 20 rebounds for Laughlin, which led 36-29 at the half.
Dantley Walker led Lincoln County with 25 points, but his potential game-winning shot at the buzzer was off target. Chandler Katschke added 18 points, and Ryan Rippetoe scored 10 for the Lynx.
Mountain View 73, Calvary Chapel 45 — At The Meadows YMCA, Justyn Anderson racked up 34 points and seven steals in the first three quarters as the Saints routed the Lions.
Mathew Larson added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Mountain View.
Cody Taylor and Bobby Buist each had 14 points for Calvary Chapel.
Beatty 46, Round Mountain 45 — At Beatty, Ivan Maldonado scored 11 points as the Hornets overcame a slow start and edged the Knights.
Beatty, which trailed 9-3 after one quarter, moved to 4-0 in the Class 1A Southern League, a half game behind Pahranagat Valley for first place.
Serjio Chavez led Round Mountain with 17 points, and Mitchell Doheny scored 10.
Pahranagat Valley 50, Tonopah 30 — At Alamo, Cody Hosier scored 14 points, and the Panthers sprung out to a 28-11 halftime lead as they held onto first place in the Class 1A Southern League.
Kade Wadsworth and Derek Hansen each added 10 points for Pahranagat Valley, 5-0 in league play.
Eddie Reynoso paced Tonopah with nine points.
GIRLS
Agassi Prep 53, The Meadows 30 — At Agassi Prep, Kayla Johnson scored 16 points, and the Stars shot to a 29-11 halftime lead to roll past the Mustangs.
Alannah Conway added 13 points, and LaBrishun Hardwick scored 10 for Agassi Prep.
Amber Peterson paced The Meadows with 11 points.
Mountain View 39, Calvary Chapel 26 — At The Meadows YMCA, Patrice Marshall and Briana Marruffo each had 13 points to lead the Saints past the Lions.
A’Riane Holliday added nine points and six rebounds for Mountain View, which led only 10-6 at halftime.
Phallen Nelson and Samantha Mann each had eight points for Calvary Chapel.
Lincoln County 47, Laughlin 23 — At Laughlin, Tia Florence and Jessica Murdock tallied 12 points apiece, and the Lynx never looked back after taking a 27-8 halftime lead.
Melanie Florence added 10 points for Lincoln County.
Diana Durazo scored 15 points for Laughlin.
Pahranagat Valley 64, Tonopah 28 — At Alamo, Dakota Day had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and the Panthers bolted to a 30-10 lead on their way to a rout of the Muckers.
Halie Lewis added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Kimberly Lewis had 11 points and eight rebounds for Pahranagat Valley, which got six assists and five steals from Alyssa Higbee.
Alli Friel paced the Muckers with seven points.
