ROUNDUP: Gonzalez’s clutch free throws net OT win for Tech boys

Manny Gonzalez sank 9 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime as Tech’s boys basketball team edged host Del Sol, 59-58 on Thursday.

Michael Johnson had 25 points and Gonzalez scored 20 for the Roadrunners, who made 19 of 21 free throws in the second half and the overtime.

David Day and James Johnson each scored 16 points to pace the Dragons. Tareg Omer added 10  points for Del Sol.

Green Valley 71, Foothill 58 — At Foothill, Kaika Pladera scored seven of his 18 points during a 23-8 fourth-quarter run that propelled the Gators to an upset of the Falcons.

Austin Tebbs added 17 points for Green Valley. Michael Thornton scored 15 points, including six in the fourth quarter, and Earl Thompson contributed 10 points for the Gators.

Brannon Cresanto led Foothill with 20 points, and teammate Greg Cox scored 14.

Silverado 50, Basic 46 — At Basic, the Skyhawks held the Wolves to two points in overtime to claim the victory.

David Ware scored 14 points to lead Silverado.

DeVonte Boyd had 14 points and Vince Carducci 13 for Basic.

Centennial 63, Faith Lutheran 45 — At Centennial, Marcus Allen had 15 points and five rebounds to help the Bulldogs cruise past the Crusaders.

Aaseem Dixon added nine points and seven assists, and Justin Jones had eight points and five rebounds for Centennial, which led 15-6 after one quarter.

Don Pearson led Faith Lutheran with nine points.

Virgin Valley 58, Boulder City 44 — At Boulder City, Cameron Jensen scored 29 points to lead the Bulldogs past the Eagles.

Nate Hafen led Boulder City with 11 points.
