ROUNDUP: Matlock helps Palo Verde boys rally to stun Centennial

Nahjee Matlock scored 17 points Friday as Palo Verde’s boys basketball team handed host Centennial its first Northwest League loss, 57-54.

Jordyn Martin and Eris Winder each added 11 points for the Panthers (8-5, 6-1 Northwest), who trailed with 90 seconds to play, but took advantage of key turnovers by Centennial to pull in front.

Marcus Allen paced the Bulldogs (15-3, 7-1) with 14 points, and Joe Marshall scored 10 for Centennial.

Durango 78, Western 77 — At Western, Cameron Stemley’s layup with 3.5 seconds left in overtime lifted the Trailblazers past the Warriors.

Kenyon Washington had given the Warriors a 77-76 lead when he made the front end of a one-and-one with 10 seconds left in overtime, but Durango rebounded the missed second shot to lead to Stemley’s game-winner. Western couldn’t get off a shot before the final buzzer.

Greg Gentry led Durango with 20 points. Tre’Von Wells added 17 points, Joel Feigler scored 16, and Stemley finished with 14 points for Durango.

Kenyon Washington and Aaron Buckley each had 18 points for Western, which got 10 points apiece from Sir Washington and Kentrell Washington.

Sierra Vista 53, Clark 49 — At Clark, Maiscei Grier scored 15 points to help the Lions edge the Chargers.

Xavier Rogers and Gary Jacobs each added 10 points for Sierra Vista, which held off a late rally by Clark.

DeAndre Henderson led the Chargers with 18 points.

Bishop Gorman 99, Bonanza 62 — At Bonanza, Ryan Parks nailed six 3-pointers en route to 20 points to help the Gaels overcome a 16-7 deficit at the beginning of the game and down the Bengals.

Shabazz Muhammad added 13 points for Gorman, which got 10 points each from Rosco Allen and Rashad Muhammad.

Bonanza’s Teyshawn Campbell led all scorers with 25 points. 

Mojave 55, Arbor View 50 — At Arbor View, Andrew Lotts had 18 points, and the Rattlers rallied from a 44-38 deficit after three quarters to top the Aggies.

DeAndre Bright led Arbor View with 15 points. Chase Ealy scored 14 points, and DeAndrea Johnson had 10 points and six rebounds for Arbor View.

Cimarron-Memorial 70, Faith Lutheran 55 — At Cimarron, Erik Brewer scored 19 points to lift the Spartans over the Crusaders.

Deijon Spillers added seven points, 19 rebounds and three blocked shots to help Cimarron.

James Hammer and Brett Lubbe each scored 12 points to lead Faith Lutheran.

Legacy 74, Shadow Ridge 61 — At Shadow Ridge, Zach Lane scored 24 points to help the Longhorns past the Mustangs.

Quincey Rhodes added 13 points for Legacy.

David Everage led Shadow Ridge with 21 points.

Boulder City 64, Desert Pines 63 — At Boulder City, Ryan McQuillan scored four of his 12 points in the final minute to help the Eagles rally past the Jaguars.

Desert Pines led throughout the second half until McQuillan hit two free throws to make it 64-63 with 30 seconds remaining.

Austin Freauf also scored 12 points to help Boulder City, which trailed 45-36 after three quarters.

Najee McIver and Jesse Martin each scored 15 points to lead Desert Pines.

Virgin Valley 67, Pahrump Valley 39 — At Mesquite, Cameron Jensen had 22 points, four steals, three blocked shots and three assists to power the Bulldogs past the Trojans.

Andrew White led Pahrump with 10 points.

Needles 67, The Meadows 64 — At Needles, Michael Hills scored 23 points, and Aaron Burns had 14 points and 13 rebounds to lift Needles past The Meadows.

Garrett Gosse scored 28 to lead The Meadows, which got 16 points from Max Newman and 10 points from Austin Brown.

Lincoln County 83, Mountain View 75 — At Mountain View, Dantley Walker poured in 51 points to help the Lynx run past the Saints.

Walker, who also had seven rebounds, six assists and five steals, scored 23 points in the fourth quarter. He hit a 3-pointer to give the Lynx a 71-69 lead midway through the final period and trigger a 15-6 run to end the game.

Chandler Katschke supplied 15 points and 15 rebounds for Lincoln County, and Ryan Rippetoe added 12 points for the Lynx.

Justyn Anderson led Mountain View with 40 points, four assists and three steals. T.J. Kissinger scored 10 points for the Saints.

Agassi Prep 86, Lake Mead 50 — At Lake Mead, Quincy Brown scored 10 of his 19 points in the second quarter, and the Stars outscored the Eagles 45-20 in the middle two quarters and pulled away for the win.

Terrell Kemp added 11 points for Agassi Prep.

L.J. Yamzon paced Lake Mead with 16 points.

Round Mountain 53, Sandy Valley 36 — At Sandy Valley, Dylan Manley scored 18 points, and Serjio Chavez tallied 17 points as the Knights downed the Sidewinders.

Mitchell Doheny added 10 points for Round Mountain.

Brandon Hughes scored 14 points, and Daniel Soto had 13 points for Sandy Valley.

Beatty 64, Indian Springs 16 — At Beatty, Ramiro Hernandez had 15 points, and the Hornets outscored the Thunderbirds, 34-2 in the second half.

Ivan Maldonado added 12 points, and Jesus Garcia scored 11 for Beatty, which got 10 points from Ivan Hernandez.

Brock Roadhouse led Indian Springs with seven points.

Pahranagat Valley 69, Trinity 25 — At Alamo, Cody Hosier scored 10 points to help the Panthers roll the Thunder.

Mason Stirling added nine points for Pahranagat Valley, which got scoring from 12 players. Trey Hayworth and Tyler Higbee supplied eight apoints apiece for the Panthers.
