ROUNDUP: McIver’s late charge helps Jaguar boys take down Wildcats

Najee McIver scored 19 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to help Desert Pines’ boys basketball team earn an 88-81 home win over Las Vegas on Thursday.

McIver was 11-for-11 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Larson had 26 points for the Jaguars, who outscored the Wildcats 36-35 in the fourth quarter. Dominique Lawrence added 14 points, Chancellor Davis had 11 and Caleb Myles contributed 10 for Desert Pines.

Tyree Anderson led Las Vegas with 33 points. Hasaan Henderson added 17 points, and George Sanico and Saeveon Butler each scored 10 for the Wildcats.

Chaparral 62, Rancho 57 — At Rancho, Bre Onta Griffin scored 18 points and Chris Goodloe added 17 as the Cowboys held on to beat the host Rams.

Rancho outscored Chaparral 21-12 in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Tyler Gaston had 14 points and 26 rebounds to lead the Rams.

Canyon Springs 70, Valley 60 — At Canyon Springs, Michael Thompson scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half to help the Pioneers put away the Vikings.

Canyon Springs outscored Valley 25-15 in the third quarter to take a 57-40 lead.

Adrian Snow added 15 points, six rebounds and six blocked shots, and Jared Brandon scored 11 points for the Pioneers.

Valley’s Angelo Coleman had 14 points,  and Johnny Arbelaez supplied 11 for Vikings.

Eldorado 81, Sunrise Mountain 49 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Sundevils rode a 30-11 third-quarter burst to put away the Miners.

Da’Quon Thrower scored a game-high 20 points to lead Elorado. Curtis Stewart and Thomas Hooper each added 14 points for the Sundevils, and teammate Markieth Floyd had 11 points.

Fharhaad Zinnamon had 12 points and Shmarlio Toliver netted 10 for Sunrise Mountain.

Bishop Gorman 95, Clark 50 — At Gorman, Shabazz Muhammad had 21 points, and the Gaels sprinted to a 30-5 first-quarter lead before cruising to the easy win.

Xavier Grimble had 11 points, and Tim Carter had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Gorman, which had nine players with at least seven points.

Steven Dancy had 19 points to lead Clark.

Desert Oasis 58, Pahrump Valley 34 — At Desert Oasis, the Diamondbacks held the Trojans to eight first-half points en route to the victory.

Cameron Jefferson had 15 points and four blocked shots, and Cameron Mich’l added 14 points and six rebounds for Desert Oasis.

Anthony Lianzo also supplied 11 points and five assists for the Diamondbacks.

Tyler Wood led Pahrump Valley with eight points.

Pahranagat Valley 74, Spring Mountain 50 — At Saville Middle School, Cody Hosier scored 29 points, and Pahranagat Valley used a 31-16 run in the fourth quarter to put away the Eagles.

Tommy Williams added 22 points for the Panthers.

Leon Saunders paced Spring Mountain with 18 points.
