ROUNDUP: Payton foul trip clinches Spring Valley boys’ win over Sierra Vista

Gary Payton had 11 points and 11 rebounds to help Spring Valley’s boys basketball team slip past visitiing Sierra Vista, 59-57 on Wednesday.

Payton hit the front end of a one-and-one late for the final margin. He missed the second free throw, which the Mountain Lions rebounded and called timeout. But a long 3-point attempt by Sierra Vista was no good.

Freshman Sean Clancey had 18 points to lead the Grizzlies, which outscored Sierra Vista 10-2 in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Jones added 13 points for Spring Valley.

Gary Jacobs led the Mountain Lions with 14 points. Maiscei Grier added 13 points, and Dallin Molina and Viko Noma’aea each scored 11 for Sierra Vista.

Foothill 64, Coronado 58 — At Coronado, Greg Cox scored 18 points as the Falcons handed the Cougars their first Southeast League loss.

Brannon Cresanto added 11 points, and Augy French supplied nine points for Foothill.

Austin Nelson led Coronado with 29 points.

Durango 68, Desert Oasis 63 — At Desert Oasis, Greg Gentry scored 22 points to help the Trailblazers down the Diamondbacks.

Durango was 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Tre’Von Wells and Joe Tuss each added 11 points for Durango.

Cameron Mich’l led Desert Oasis with 27 points, and teammate Anthony Lianzo supplied 22 points.

Basic 64, Green Valley 60 — At Green Valley, DeVonte Boyd had 20 points to help the Wolves edge the Gators.

Frankie Campbell added 14 points and Kyle Taitano 11 for Basic.

Keiannte Wilkins led Green Valley with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Thomas Allison added 17 points, and Austin Tebbs scored 10 for the Gators.

Clark 69, Bonanza 49 — At Clark, Brian McGriff had 30 points to lead the Chargers past the Bengals.

Tyler Watts added 18 points, and D’Andre Henderson scored 13 for Clark, which outscored Bonanza 52-30 in the second half.

Teyshawn Campbell led the Bengals with 26 points.

Del Sol 67, Liberty 60 — At Del Sol, James Johnson had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Dragons past the Patriots.

David Day scored 21 points and Chris Marshall 17 for Del Sol, which led 37-23 at the half.

Randy Tomlinson led Liberty with 18 points, and Aaron Navitsky scored 13.

Palo Verde 60, Shadow Ridge 54 — At Palo Verde, Jordyn Martin scored 18 points and the Panthers held off the Mustangs.

Nahjee Matlock added 16 points for Palo Verde.

Rodney Rainey led Shadow Ridge with 15 points. Nick Flowers added 13 points, and Zach Ducksworth scored 12 for the Mustangs.

Mojave 62, Faith Lutheran 54 — At Faith Lutheran, Andrew Lotts scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Rattlers preserve a win over the Crusaders.

Demarge Boyd added 12 points, and Jameel Chee-Ping had 10 points for Mojave, which used a 17-5 second-quarter run to take control.

James Hammer led the Crusaders with 13 points. Brett Lubbe added 10 points for Faith Lutheran.

Cheyenne 62, Arbor View 57 — At Arbor View, Khalid Banks scored 20 points to help lead the Desert Shields past the Aggies.

Bryan Laws had 13 points, Ivan Harper scored 12, and Gary Stewart contributed 10 points for Cheyenne, which used a 15-9 third-quarter burst to pull away.

DeAndrea Johnson had 13 points and six rebounds for Arbor View, which got 12 points from Chase Ealy and 11 points from Zach Hammond.

Centennial 78, Cimarron-Memorial 55 — At Centennial, the Bulldogs raced out to a 41-24 halftime lead and cruised past the Spartans.

Aaseem Dixon had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead Centennial, which forced 17 turnovers and led 19-9 after one quarter.

Marcus Allen added 15 points for the Bulldogs.

Erik Brewer led the Spartans with 16 points.

Silverado 74, Tech 43 — At Silverado, the Skyhawks jumped to a 21-6 first-quarter lead en route to an easy victory over the Roadrunners.

David Ware had 20 points and eight rebounds for Silverado. Ruben Jackson added 18 points and 12 assists, and Thomas McKay supplied 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Skyhawks.

Michael Johnson led Tech with 21 points.

Bishop Gorman 97, Pahrump Valley 59 — At Gorman, Rosco Allen had 16 points, and Nick Gianakoulias scored 15 to lead the Gaels over the Trojans.

Demetris Morant and Jalen Grimble each added 12 points for Gorman, which scored 61 points in the second half.

Brett Kunzi had 17 points and Dajhan Celius 15 for Pahrump.
