Dantley Walker had 62 points, including 14 in overtime, as Lincoln County’s boys basketball team earned a 100-97 home victory over Needles on Friday night.
Walker hit two of his 10 3-pointers in overtime, and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the extra period to ice the game.
The senior guard also had 14 assists and 11 rebounds.
According to the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association record book, Walker’s outburst was the second highest single-game point total in state history and the most since 1952, when Jim Summers of Douglas scored 70.
Chandler Katschke added 16 points for the Lynx.
Needles center Aaron Burns scored 32 in the loss. Michael Hills added 20 points, Ryan Andrews scored 16, and Daric Courtwright supplied 13 for the Mustangs.
Walker also scored 53 points in a regular-season matchup against Needles last season. He sank 10 3-pointers in that game, as well.
