GIRLS BASKETBALL: Martin, Rams steal victory from Coronado

LaKissa Martin had a late steal and layup to help Rancho’s girls basketball team nip visiting Coronado, 54-53, on Wednesday.

Martin finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven steals.

Tatiana Lee added 16 points for the Rams. Maureen Macato scored 10, and Jada Wilson had 15 rebounds for Rancho.

Samantha Green and Kayla Watterson each scored 17 points for Coronado, which dropped to third in the Southeast League.

Canyon Springs 66, Las Vegas 41 — At Las Vegas, Alexia Thrower had 21 points, and the Pioneers raced to a 20-2 lead after one quarter en route to the win over the Wildcats.

D’Licya Feaster had 13 points, and LaKiya Yarber scored 12 for Canyon Springs.

Tajanae Davis had 16 points, and Adrina Collins scored 14 for Las Vegas, which lost starting point guard Bianca Matlock to a concussion in the game’s first minute and struggled against Canyon Springs’ pressure.

Foothill 74, Basic 49 — At Foothill, Taylor Turney and Mikayla Yeakel each scored 16 points as the Falcons routed the Wolves.

Nicole Benson added nine points for Foothill, which raced to a 42-17 halftime advantage.

Jayla Brown scored 20 points to lead Basic.

Centennial 78, Cimarron-Memorial 34 — At Centennial, Justice Ethridge and Karina Brandon each had 16 points to help the Bulldogs top the Spartans.

Jayden Eggleston and Sarah Kruthaupt each added 15 points for Centennial, which led 56-13 at the half.

Niara Smith led Cimarron with 11 points, and teammate Zaquae Downton scored 10.

The Spartans will be the Northwest League’s No. 3 seed, topping Desert Oasis on a tiebreaker.

Arbor View 60, Desert Oasis 48 — At Desert Oasis, Ariona Gill led four players in double figures with 21 points as the Aggies turned back the Diamondbacks.

Janae Strode added 11 points, and Caroline Rivera and Katrina Nordstrom each scored 10 points for Arbor View.

Mikayla Kirby had 20 points, and teammate Ashlynn Sharp scored 13 for Desert Oasis.

Green Valley 55, Eldorado 37 — At Green Valley, Gracelle Garcia scored 12 points to help the Gators down the Sundevils.

Viviasa Alae had nine points, and Ellee Barton scored seven for Green Valley, which led 22-10 at halftime.

Eldorado’s Deasia Walker led all scorers with 16 points.

Liberty 58, Valley 11 — At Valley, Kealy Brown scored 16 points as the Patriots rolled to a 29-0 first-quarter lead and went on to rout the Vikings.

Paris Strawther added 11 points for Liberty, which led 40-1 at halftime.

Eimainei Thomas-Palmer scored six points for Valley.
