Brianna Johnson tallied 20 points Thursday to help Valley’s girls basketball team outlast host Las Vegas High, 73-72.
Christina Davis added 18 points, and Shayna Porter scored 13 for the Vikings (20-5, 11-1), who remained one game behind Canyon Springs for first place in the Northeast League.
Shomari Harris paced Las Vegas with 23 points. Matti Ventling scored 13 points, and Natresha Bernard added 11 points for the Wildcats, who got 10 points from Daresheoun Lee.
Bishop Gorman 65, Sierra Vista 40 — At Gorman, Zhane Dikes and Amber Lane each tallied 16 points as the Gaels clinched at least a share of the Southwest League title with a win over the Mountain Lions.
April Rivers added 13 points, and Diamond Major scored 12 for Gorman, which outscored Sierra Vista 27-10 in the fourth quarter.
Jeanette Jackson paced the Mountain Lions with 13 points.
Canyon Springs 73, Sunrise Mountain 20 — At Canyon Springs, Faith Harper scored 19 points, and the Pioneers busted out a 50-5 halftime lead on their way to an easy win.
Cherise Beynon added 16 points, and Kenosha Wright scored 12 for Canyon Springs.
Jenea Yurek-Carhee led Sunrise Mountain with six points.
Rancho 53, Eldorado 42 — At Rancho, Tryicia Payne scored 20 points to help the Rams top the Sundevils.
Erica Johnson added 14 points for Rancho, which used a 19-9 third-quarter spurt to pull away.
Gigi Jerkins had 15 points to lead Eldorado, which got 14 points from Johnnie Green.
Desert Pines 43, Chaparral 26 — At Desert Pines, TaQuiyyah Boyles tallied 13 points, and the Jaguars used a 32-14 run in the middle quarters to top the Cowboys.
Leslie White scored 12 points, and Cydney Myles added 10 points for Desert Pines.
Octavia Gray and Tichina Savoy each scored 11 for Chaparral.
Calvary Chapel 57, Laughlin 37 — At Laughlin, Deja Harris scored 19 points, and Phallen Nelson supplied 17 points to help lift the Lions past the Cougars.
Marissa Bonnefin added 10 points for Calvary Chapel, which ran to a 29-17 halftime lead.
Diana Durazo tallied 17 points to pace Laughlin.
