Edwards’ first-half TDs lift Legacy over Liberty

Deshae Edwards had a pair of first-half touchdowns to lead Legacy to a 26-9 home win over Liberty on Friday night.
Edwards scored on a 40-yard run and a 99-yard kickoff return in the first half.
Dionte Maxwell added a 55-yard touchdown reception from Devin Wiedemann in the second quarter to give Legacy (1-0) a 20-9 lead at halftime.
Liberty (0-1) scored its only touchdown on a quarterback keeper by Samuel Tai after recovering a blocked punt on the 1-yard line.
Legacy’s Richard Johnson intercepted a Tai pass on the last play of the game and returned it 95 yards for the final score.
