Football games of the week — Week 9

THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS GAME

Arbor View at Legacy — The Aggies won last year’s matchup by 25 points, thanks to four touchdowns from now-departed running back Curtis Jones.

Look for Arbor View junior running back Deago Stubbs, who rushed for 779 yards and five touchdowns a season ago, to try to match his old teammate’s mark in the final Thursday Night Lights game of the regular season.

Legacy’s Jamaal Britt, who caught a 79-yard TD pass in last season’s 52-27 loss, will be one of the Longhorns’ top options in this contest.

GAMES OF THE WEEK

Rancho at Las Vegas — The Bone Game is one of the oldest rivalries in Southern Nevada, but it has been completely one-sided in recent memory, as the Rams have fallen on hard times.

Rancho, which lost to the Wildcats by an average of 49.6 points the past five seasons, hasn’t defeated Las Vegas since a 13-10 victory in 1995.

After winning three games last season, will the Rams keep their momentum going and surprise their rival?

Las Vegas shouldn’t be too worried, as they return junior running back Elijah Hicks and senior linebacker Cruz Littlefield.

Moapa Valley at Chaparral — How the Class 3A Sunrise League finishes up this season is anyone’s guess, but these teams should be near the top with the departure of Desert Pines.

The Pirates, who lost in the Division I-A state championship to Churchill County last season, are a perennial power, while the Cowboys are coming off one of the best seasons in school history.

Both teams lost their top playmaker, but each returns athletes on both sides of the ball.

Chaparral will be looking to avenge last season’s 35-6 loss in Overton.
