Mortensen, Pirates roll to quarterfinal win

Moapa Valley's Conner Mortensen scored four touchdowns as the Pirates (10-1) routed visiting Pahrump Valley (2-8) 65-0 in the Division I-A Southern Region quarterfinals on Thursday.

Mortensen had seven carries for 109 yards and three TDs, and also returned a punt 67 yards for a score in the first quarter, as Moapa Valley commanded a 53-0 halftime lead.

Jared Repp ran for a 20-yard TD and returned an interception 36 yards into the end zone for the Pirates. Teammate Sean McConnell ran seven times for 57 yards and a score.

Moapa Valley will travel to Mojave on Nov. 2 for the Division I-A Southern Region semifinals at 7 p.m .
