Mulcock, Pirates top Virgin Valley

Cole Mulcock had eight receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns Friday to lead No. 9 Moapa Valley’s football team to a 35-7 home win over Virgin Valley.
Derek Cope was 5 of 5 on kicking extra points and had two interceptions for Moapa Valley (7-0, 4-0 Sunrise), which led 14-0 at halftime.
Zach Hymas finished 7 of 13 for 135 yards and a TD in the first half, and Nate Cox was 6 of 9 for 126 yards and a score in the second half for the Pirates, who got 15 carries for 87 yards and two TDs from Kaleb Bodily.
Virgin Valley’s Junior Paongo had 80 yards rushing on 17 carries for Virgin Valley (3-4, 1-3), and teammate Nick Cox added 44 yards receiving on two grabs.
