Two more high school football state champions will be crowned this season after Class 5A was split into three divisions, leaving fewer teams stuck behind Bishop Gorman.
Of the 14 teams in the new Class 4A, 13 had losing records last season. The other team went 5-5 in 3A. Someone is winning a state championship this season.
Saturday marked the first day high school football teams in the state could engage in contact practices with full pads.
