Panthers blow out Round Mountain in playoff opener
Pahranagat Valley scored 62 points in the first half on the way to a 78-0 rout of visiting Round Mountain in a Class 1A Southern League first-round playoff game Friday.
Jensen Jones carried five times for 60 yards, including touchdown runs of 35, 9 and 25 yards.
The defending 1A state champion Panthers (8-0) held Round Mountain (3-7) to 29 yards of offense.
The Knights committed four turnovers, including three interceptions.
Kade Wadsworth ran for 85 yards and one TD for the Panthers, who totaled 252 yards rushing.
Four of Pahranagat Valley’s seven pass attempts were for scores.
Cody Hosier tossed a 7-yard TD pass to Kale Leavitt and a 6-yard scoring strike to Tyler Higbee. Austin Poulsen threw a 55-yard scoring strike to Higbee and a 29-yard TD to Derek Hansen.
Pahranagat Valley will play Nov. 14 in a 1A state semifinal against a team to be determined.
