Smith’s four scores lift Falcons over Mustangs

Foothill wide receiver Devin Smith scored four touchdowns, three receiving and one punt return, as the Falcons beat visiting Shadow Ridge 61-32 on Friday.

Foothill's offense did not see the field until 7:28 left in the second quarter. Shadow Ridge's opening drive went 19 plays for 80 yards, capped off by a Kody Presser 1-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.

After the Mustangs recovered an onside kick and went three-and-out, Smith returned the ensuing punt 78 yards to tie the game at 7-7 with 9:04 left in the second quarter.

Smith caught a 25-yard touchdown pass at the end of the first half to give the Falcons a 20-13 lead. Foothill (3-1) outscored Shadow Ridge (0-5) 41-19 in the second half, as the Falcons won their third straight game since their 50-6 loss to Desert Hills (Utah).

Foothill quarterback Devon Mueller completed 15 of 18 passes for 172 yards and four touchdowns. Falcons running back Justice Jackson, after only carrying the ball four times in the first half, finished with 129 yards and scored three touchdowns.
