GOLF: Thomas helps Mustangs win Northwest League match

Katie Thomas carded an 18-over-par 72 at Siena on Thursday to help Shadow Ridge’s girls golf team win a Northwest League match.

The Mustangs had a team score of 400. Palo Verde was second at 417, followed by Arbor View at 484 and Sierra Vista at 522.

The Aggies’ Betsy Branton was the medalist with an 88.

Durango’s Yazmin Bengson shot 94, and Palo Verde’s Madison Hendricks carded a 97.

Gators win Northeast League match

At Desert Willow, Mercedes Khumnark shot 7-over-par 67 to lead Green Valley to victory in a Northeast League match.

Haley Merrill added an 84, and Sara DeMarco shot 86 for the Gators, who had a team score of 337.

Silverado was second at 361, followed by Rancho (384) and Las Vegas (418).

Rancho’s Aubrianna Jordan shot 74 to place second individually.
