Rayshon Funches and Emmanuel Austin combined to score 22 points in the final 10 minutes as the Longhorns held on for a 68-66 win over Fairmont (California) in the Tarkanian Classic’s Eastbay Division at Faith Lutheran.

Nicholas held off hard-charging Massimiliano Swenson of Bishop Gorman to become Desert Oasis’ first region cross country champion. The Diamondbacks also won the boys region team title, another first in school history.
Colton Cook scored twice and had an assist for Foothill’s boys soccer team in a 3-0 home victory over visiting Basic in the Desert Region tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

Las Vegas High’s Brooklyn Stone recorded 40 assists, eight digs and four aces and Skyla Faught chipped in with 16 kills, 13 digs and three aces as the host Wildcats turned back Centennial, 22-25, 25-11, 25-13, 25-16.
Hailey Carroll had 21 assists and 15 kills, and teammate Kyrie Lorfing supplied 23 assists, 10 kills and three aces to lead Faith Lutheran’s girls volleyball team to a 21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 home win over Centennial on Wednesday.
The doubles teams of Katie Whalen and Makena Haugh, and Demarie Harris and Anne Wirthlin both went 3-0 for Arbor View’s girls tennis team on Thursday, and the Aggies beat visiting Bonanza 10-9, winning the tiebreaker 7-1.
Bonanza’s girls tennis team had two doubles teams go undefeated Thursday as the visiting Bengals edged Arbor View, 10-8.
