The high school football season kicks off Friday in Southern Nevada with several intriguing matchups. Here are five to watch this weekend.

Foothill was able to hang on for a 77-75 boys basketball victory over Timpanogos (Utah) on Saturday in the Tarkanian Classic at Bishop Gorman.
Rayshon Funches and Emmanuel Austin combined to score 22 points in the final 10 minutes as the Longhorns held on for a 68-66 win over Fairmont (California) in the Tarkanian Classic’s Eastbay Division at Faith Lutheran.
The good far outweighed the bad, though, as the Gaels pulled away for a 79-48 win over Lone Peak (Utah) in their Tarkanian Classic opener at Orleans Arena.

Larry Holmes poured in 20 points to lead five double-figure scorers as Arbor View’s boys basketball team raced to a 97-81 win at Shadow Ridge on Tuesday.
Daejah Phillips scored 18 points Tuesday as Centennial’s girls basketball team opened defense of its fourth straight large school state title with a 90-31 home win over Cimarron-Memorial .
Jaden Hardy had 27 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, and Coronado’s boys basketball team crusied to an 82-51 victory over Rancho Solano Prep at the Hoophall West showcase in Scottsdale, Arizona on Saturday.
Kimberlyn Tanner had a team-high 17 points to propel Silverado’s girls basketball team to a 45-41 road victory over Democracy Prep on Saturday evening.
Noah Do hit a 3-pointer from the corner with three seconds remaining to give Cimarron-Memorial a 57-55 home victory over Bonanza in boys basketball on Wednesday.
Ian White had 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Bonanza’s boys basketball team to an 84-67 home win over Basic on Friday.
