Wesley-Nash finished with 25 points, six rebounds, eight assists and two steals to lead the Spartans to a 58-44 road win over Desert Pines in the Mountain Region girls basketball tournament.
Cimarron-Memorial’s Matthew Rodgers avenged three regular-season losses to Shadow Ridge’s Marc Williams by winning 3-1 in overtime in the 160-pound division, to help the Spartans win the region championship, 231-228½.
Connor Bourne, who has a 171-29 record during his high school career after pinning Eldorado’s Marques Anaya-Casarez in the 182-pound quarterfinals on Friday, will face Centennial’s Ike Edwards in Saturday’s semifinal round, which begins at 10 am at Bonanza.
Akram Zerhouni pinned his 138-pound opponent in 1 minute, 3 seconds on Thursday to help host Sierra Vista’s wrestling team to a 64-18 win over Desert Oasis.
Emmanuel Austin hit 6 of 8 free throws in overtime Tuesday to lead Legacy’s boys basketball team to a 77-75 home victory over Cheyenne.
Jamia Carter scored 15 points Tuesday to help Shadow Ridge’s girls basketball team to a 57-54 home win over Cimarron-Memorial.
Marc Williams and Noah Gallardo each won individual titles on Saturday to lead Shadow Ridge to a second-place team finish at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic at South Point.
Anthony Hunter hit a 3-pointer with four seconds to play to give Durango’s boys basketball team a 67-66 road win over Sierra Vista on Friday.
