Green Valley sophomore Steele Dias won the 106-pound state championship to help the Gators to their sixth consecutive state title Saturday at Spanish Springs High School.
Having won five consecutive state championships, Green Valley coach Jon Ferry might have expected to feel comfortable with a lead after the first day of the Class 4A state tournament. Amanda Sink fired a three-hitter with 16 strikeouts Tuesday as Legacy’s softball team edged visiting Cimarron-Memorial, 2-1.
