Daishen Nix, a 6-foot-5-inch senior point guard, is one of 24 boys basketball players who will play in the McDonald’s All-American game April 1 in Houston.
Plenty of league titles and playoff seedings hang in the balance, and several games will determine how teams line up entering the postseason.

Bronny James and Sierra Canyon will play two games in the event, while Bishop Gorman aims to keep the Platinum Division title at home for the third straight year.
Quincy Bonds scored four goals, and the Centennial girls adavanced to the second round of the 4A state tournament. The Las Vegas boys bounced Coronado 3-0 to move on.
Jesus Espejo’s header proved to be the game-winner for the Sundevils. The Bishop Gorman boys, and the Faith Lutheran and Coronado girls also claimed regional crowns.
Durango takes care of Foothill in three sets, while Palo Verde has its way with Arbor View. Bishop Gorman’s Stockham reaches 1,500 career kills in a win.
Centennial beats Arbor View 2-1, advances to face No. 1 Faith Lutheran. Desert Region No. 1 Coronado blanks two-time defending 4A state champion Bishop Gorman 3-0.
Rigo Carrasco scored twice for the top-seeded and defending state champion Wildcats in a 3-1 win. Desert Region No. 1 Bishop Gorman beat Desert Oasis to stay unbeaten.
The top-seeded Crusaders put in three goals in the first four minutes of their Moutain Region quarterfinal. Coronado, the No. 1 seed in the Desert Region, also moved on.
Martin Blake ran for 113 yards and a touchdown and returned a punt for a score to help the Pioneers to a 48-7 Southeast League win over Eldorado.
