The Gaels welcomed new rival Coronado to the showcase by overcoming an early double-figure deficit at Cox Pavilion and scoring a nationally televised 70-62 victory.

Bronny James and Sierra Canyon will play two games in the event, while Bishop Gorman aims to keep the Platinum Division title at home for the third straight year.
The Faith Lutheran girls and Bishop Gorman boys needed one goal apiece to cap unbeaten seasons with Class 4A state championships Saturday at Hug High School in Reno.
Faith Lutheran scored twice in the second half to defeat Galena. Coronado avenged its only loss with win over Centennial. Eldorado, Bishop Gorman advance to boys final.
Quincy Bonds scored four goals, and the Centennial girls adavanced to the second round of the 4A state tournament. The Las Vegas boys bounced Coronado 3-0 to move on.
Daniel Britt threw four touchdown passes and ran for one as the Patriots rolled to the Desert Region semis. Bishop Gorman domainated Coronado 52-7.
Jesus Espejo’s header proved to be the game-winner for the Sundevils. The Bishop Gorman boys, and the Faith Lutheran and Coronado girls also claimed regional crowns.
