Rancho’s Layton Walls provided a two-run single, and the Rams’ baseball team added another run on a passed ball as part of a three-run eighth inning to defeat Liberty 4-1 on the road Tuesday.

SOFTBALL: Ashley Ward, Tatum Spangler lift Coronado over Basic.

Ashley Ward went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Coronado’s softball team, and winning pitcher Tatum Spangler went the distance with eight strikeouts and was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI as the host Cougars edged Basic on Wednesday, 5-4.

GIRLS SWIMMING: Arbor View tops Faith Lutheran

Arbor View’s girls swimming team won six of the eight individual swimming events Saturday en route to a 172-118 win over Faith Lutheran at Pavilion.

Matthew Vanderberg doubled home Kaui Kaleopaa in the top of the eighth inning Friday to lift the Sierra Vista baseball team to a 6-5 road win over Bonanza in eight innings.

SOFTBALL: Late error helps Las Vegas edge Basic

Las Vegas’ softball team took advantage of an error to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, and the host Wildcats edged Basic 4-3 on Tuesday.
