Here’s a look at this week’s coaches polls in boys and girls soccer.
Bishop Gorman falls to St. Louis 31-19 in a battle of top-15 teams nationally, while Liberty can’t hold on to early lead in a 34-22 defeat against Mililani.
The Gaels, the defending Class 4A state champions, defeated Boulder City, the reigning Class 3A champ, 15-25, 25-8, 15-13 in the title match Saturday.
Las Vegas junior quarterback Ja’Shawn Scroggins threw for nearly 300 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 42-28 win over Adelanto (Calif.) on Friday.
Bishop Gorman junior Santino Panaro and Spring Valley senior Kade Higgins each went 2-for-2 with two RBIs on Wednesday to help Team Nevada to a 6-3 win over Louisiana.
Led by senior Tyler Edlefsen, Palo Verde scored 91 points to hold off second-place Coronado, which scored 84, and won the Class 4A state title.
After having their three-year state championship streak snapped last season, the Panthers made a relatively easy time of winning the Class 4A state title.
Sparked by individual wins from Rome Odunze and Kyu Kelly, the Gaels wrapped up their second consecutive Class 4A title by scoring 99 points.
