Edmond ran the 100 meters in 11.84 seconds on Saturday at Desert Oasis to secure the Moutain Region championship — and an automatic bid to the Class 4A state meet next week. Teammate Aniya Smith finished second in 12.11, and Centennial’s Quincy Bonds ran 12.16 for third.
With a talented group of underclassmen, Coronado scored 449 points Friday to roll to the Class 4A Desert Region title at UNLV.
The Cougars finished with 452 points to claim the title. Green Valley finished second with 444 points, and Bishop Gorman finished third with 284 points.

Winning pitcher Brooke Detommaso was 1-for-4 with four RBIs to help Bonanza’s softball team to a 9-6 win at Boulder City on Monday.
Gavin Malcolm’s two-out double in the bottom of the sixth inning plated Presley Whybourne and Sevon Battle with the tying and go-ahead runs to lift Green Valley’s baseball team to a 7-6 win over visiting Pahrump Valley on Saturday.
Mark Thuet had 21 kills, five aces, four blocks and 14 digs to lead Bonanza’s boys volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-27, 21-25, 26-24, 15-4 win over visiting Legacy on Wednesday.
