VOLLEYBALL: Gorman tops Legacy, earns No. 2 seed for postseason

Jacob Taylor had 13 kills, and Will Hafen added seven kills Thursday to help Bishop Gorman’s boys volleyball team secure the Southwest League’s No. 2 seed in the playoffs with a 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 win at Legacy.

BASEBALL: Gorman rallies twice to stun Shadow Ridge

Braxton Wehrle’s two-out single to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning plated Bryce Ruggeroli with the winning run as Bishop Gorman’s baseball team rallied in both the seventh and eighth innings to edge visiting Shadow Ridge 7-6 on Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Mosie Foley belted a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the ninth inning Friday to lead Faith Lutheran’s softball team to an 8-7, nine-inning win at Sierra Vista.

SOFTBALL: Gaels knock off top-ranked Palo Verde

Ashley Witucki, Megan Coyle and Morgan Blanner each had two hits Wednesday to help host Bishop Gorman’s softball team upset top-ranked Palo Verde, 5-3.

VOLLEYBALL: Rattlers rally to down Bulldogs in five sets

Alex Carvalho had 21 kills, six aces and four blocks Friday as the Mojave boys volleyball team overcame a two-set deficit to beat host Centennial, 18-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-12, 15-7.
