Madisyn McArthur completed 21 of 27 passes for 315 yards and four touchdowns Tuesday to help visiting Foothill top Rancho, 33-9 in the quarterfinals of the Sunrise Region flag football playoffs.
Spring Valley 132-pounder Andres Garcia beat the Sunrise Region champion, the Sunset runner-up and last week’s Sunset Region champion to claim his first Class 4A state championship Friday at The Orleans Arena.

Arbor View’s Keith Williams led at the front of a pack of five runners early. Eventually, he managed to hold off PahrumpValley’s Bryce Odegard and Centennial’s Alexander Miller in the final quarter mile, putting in a good finishing kick to cross the line in 16 minutes and 13 seconds.
Madison Knoblock was 3-0 in singles and Liberty’s girls tennis team edged visiting Eldorado 10-9 on a tiebreaker on Tuesday.
