Leany helps Aggie girls win Bulldog Early Bird meet

Brooke Leany won a pair of distance events on Friday to lead Arbor View’s girls track team to the title at the Bulldog Early Bird Meet in Mesquite.

Leany won the 1,600-meter run in 6 minutes, 5.57 seconds and took the 3,200 in 13:29.48.

Ariona Gill was first in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet, 2 inches, and placed second in the high jump at 5-0 for the Aggies.

Melanie Ara won the 800 (2:39.16) for Arbor View, which had 178 points. White Pine was second with 173, and Desert Pines was third with 107.

Virgin Valley’s Taylor Bryant won the 100 hurdles in a time of 16.71, and won the pole vault with a mark of 10-0.

White Pine’s Tainuii Brewster was first in the shot put (30-4) and discus (70-8).

Arbor View also won the boys meet with 150½ points. Virgin Valley was second with 127, and Desert Pines was third at 104.

Arbor View won three events, with Austin Ondracek taking the 110 hurdles (18.62), Quemaree Harris winning the shot put (43-8) and Hunter Soderquist taking the discus (117-4).

Virgin Valley’s Micah Saunders won the long jump (18-7) and triple jump (39-1½). White Pine’s Sam Stewart was first in the 1,600 (4:57.21) and 3,200 (10:46.88).
