VOLLEYBALL: Compton’s 23 kills lead Longhorns by Wildcats

Tanner Compton had 23 kills and seven digs on Friday to lead Legacy to a 25-16, 24-26, 25-22, 25-23 victory over host Las Vegas.

Trent Compton (14 kills, seven digs, six aces), Braden Liu (44 assists, three aces) and Anthony Cabrera (11 digs) also contributed for the Longhorns.

Shayne Marquez had 33 assists to lead Las Vegas, and teammate Chris Kampshoff added 11 kills. T.J. Esporas and Chris Marx added 11 and nine kills, respectively, for the Wildcats.

Valley 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Jack Heavey had 18 kills to help the Vikings to a 25-11, 25-16, 25-12 sweep of the Diamondbacks.

Alex Sandoval added 31 assists and six digs, and Jesse Smith supplied six kills and seven digs for Valley.

Devin Lewis had nine kills, and Saunoa Afoa added 13 assists for Desert Oasis.

Tech 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Tyler Gardenhire had 10 kills and six aces, and Joshua Wood added four kills and 21 assists to help the Roadrunners to a 25-16, 25-16, 25-14 win over the Desert Shields.

Miguel Garcia had six kills, four aces and nine digs, and Brian Pochop recorded 13 digs for Tech, which got 11 digs from Brian Medrano-Kaier.

Cheyenne’s Deonte Perkins had six kills and three digs, and John Pacheco-Galindo had four kills and two blocks for the Desert Shields.
