VOLLEYBALL: Valley boys survive Wildcats, stay perfect in Northeast

Jack Heavey had 29 kills, 14 digs and three blocks, and Sean Carter dished out 59 assists as Valley’s boys volleyball team outlasted host Las Vegas 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 21-25, 15-8 on Monday to remain undefeated in the Northeast League.

Matt Ballaro added 16 kills, seven digs and two blocks for the Vikings, and teammate Lorenzo Capannolo chipped in with 14 kills, six digs and two blocks. Valley libero David Delaney finished with 24 digs.

Blake Burgess led the Wildcats with 17 kills and three blocks. Chris Kamphshoff had a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, and Brian Singson added 11 kills for Las Vegas, which also got 10 kills and five digs from Jason Cottle.

Silverado 3, Green Valley 1 — At Green Valley, Curtis Hadland finished with 14 kills, and Austin Hunt added 13 kills to lift the Skyhawks past the Gators 24-26, 25-16, 25-23, 25-13 in a Northeast League match.

Bryan Skworzec handed out 37 assists for Silverado.

Jake Johnson had 14 kills and five digs to lead Green Valley. Teammate Arvin Nitollama chipped in with 31 assists, three digs and two aces.

Canyon Springs 3, Rancho 2 — At Rancho, Immanuel Tufuga had 17 kills, nine digs and four aces, and Carl Esteban dished out 25 assists to lead the Pioneers to a 25-16, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12 Northeast League win over the Rams.

Jose Piedra had 31 digs and two aces, and Burnadino Faulafo added 10 kills and three blocks for Canyon Springs.
Jef Rebibes had 17 kills and 16 digs, and Aaron Robles chipped in 38 assists, eight digs and four kills for Rancho, which got 24 digs from Ryan Castano and eight kills and five blocks from Andrew Dittrich.

Arbor View 3, Spring Valley 0 — At Arbor View, Darien Bradley finished with 12 kills, eight digs and two blocks in the Aggies’ 25-12, 25-18, 25-12 victory over the Grizzlies in a Northwest League match.

Gage Lujan added 14 digs and two aces for Arbor View.

Jim Tran led Spring Valley with four kills and two blocks. Teammate James Nunez chipped in with five assists and three aces.

Shadow Ridge 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Richard Sterling totaled 16 kills and five aces, and the Mustangs swept the Trailblazers 25-10, 25-15, 25-23 in a Northwest League match.

Jalen Makaiwi had 17 assists and two aces, and A.J. Makaiwi added 11 assists and four aces for Shadow Ridge.

Michael Diggins tallied eight blocks and seven kills, Pedro Abrego had 12 assists and Nico Tagle notched six digs to lead Durango.

Palo Verde 3, Sierra Vista 0 — At Palo Verde, Andrew Weston notched 30 assists, and E.J. Vanderstelt tallied 11 kills to help the Panthers down the Mountain Lions 25-16, 25-23, 25-17 in a Northwest League match.
Mitchell Tingey added 10 digs and six kills for Palo Verde.

Tyler Hollings and Srdjan Cvijetic each had eight kills, and Julius Sison recorded 23 assists to lead Sierra Vista.

Clark 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, Jeremy Bavers registered 11 kills and five blocks, and Walter Regalado supplied 34 assists to help the Chargers to a 27-25, 25-15, 25-16 victory over the Desert Shields in a Division I-A match.

Darius Gantt paced Cheyenne with seven kills and four blocks.

Mojave 3, Western 0 — At Western, Darryl Miller-Green posted 10 kills and six blocks, and Christian Limtiaco added nine kills, seven digs and six aces to guide the Rattlers to a 25-13, 25-8, 25-23 victory over the Warriors in a Division I-A match.

Lemuel Dyck led Mojave’s defense with 17 digs, and teammate Clayton Fontano chipped in with five kills and three blocks.

Jesus Herrera finished with five kills and one block, and Braeden Smith contributed nine assists and two blocks.
