Panthers claim Arizona tournament crown

Lexi Riggs had 11 kills and three digs, and Stephanie Herman added 25 assists and seven digs Saturday to help Palo Verde's girls volleyball team defeat Tucson (Ariz.), 25-20, 25-14 in the championship match of the Catalina Foothills Falcon Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.

Kendall Cheval had seven kills and 11 digs, and Faryn Duncan added 10 digs for the Panthers, who handed the Badgers their first loss of the season.

Palo Verde advanced to the final by beating host Catalina Foothills (Ariz.), 23-25, 25-19, 15-8.

Herman had 29 assists, two kills and eight digs, and Riggs supplied 10 kills and two digs. McCall Phillips had seven kills, 13 digs and three blocks, and Cheval contributed seven kills and 11 digs for the Panthers, who got 16 digs from Faryn Duncan.

Riggs and Phillips were named to the all-tournament team.
