WRESTLING: Moapa Valley’s Griffiths pins opponent in OT

Moapa Valley’s Kadyn Griffiths pinned his opponent in overtime at 120 pounds on Tuesday to lead the Pirates to a 51-23 victory over host Desert Pines.

Chase Guesman (113), Kaleb Bodily (152), Sterling Simmons (170) and Mack Nelson (195) each recorded first-period pins for Moapa Valley.

Jacob Leavitt (138) also won by fall for the Pirates.

Jonathan Velasco (160), Jorge Magana (182) and Phillip Tito (220) won by pin for the Jaguars. Tito pinned his opponent in 41 seconds.

Liberty 48, Canyon Springs 30 — At Liberty, Brendyn Martinez pinned his opponent in 51 seconds at 132 pounds to lead the Patriots past the Pioneers.

Kyle Penalosa (113), Ryan Dedius (120), Jakob Hartung (145) and Storm Roper (152) also won by fall for Liberty.

Andres Serrano (195) and Steven Garcia (220) posted pins for Canyon Springs. Serrano won in 30 seconds and Garcia won in 35 seconds.

Foothill 63, Rancho 15 — At Foothill, Wyatt English (106), Charles Atkerson (195) and R.J. Banos (285) each pinned their opponent in less than a minute as the Falcons routed the Rams.

Damian Mendoza (113), Kohl Velado (120), Damian Ortega (138), Angel Camahco (182) and Josh Ozuna (220) also won by fall for Foothill.

Rancho’s Julian Quezado (145) and Alex Arnone (152) each won by pin.

Green Valley 70, Coronado 3 — At Green Valley, the Gators rolled by the Cougars.

Jesse Gabriel pinned his opponent in 20 seconds at 120 to lead Green Valley. Daniel Brathor (106), Connor Burgess (113), Wally Zernich (126), Jared Temple (182) and Jordan McAfee (220) also had pins for the Gators.

Clark 45, Cheyenne 33 — At Faith Lutheran, the Chargers won six matches by forfeit to top the Desert Shields.

Ivan DeAnda wono by pin at 120 for Clark.

Chase Mikesell (106), Sterling Walker (152), Cajuin Jackson (170) and Kristian Chacon (182) won by fall for Cheyenne.
