Batman and Elvis, sort of, at Caesars

Locals passing through Caesars Palace late Wednesday recognized a familiar face in a scene with Oscar winner Christian Bale.

Longtime Elvis impersonator Paul Casey was seen standing behind Bale, who was chatting up two female co-stars during the filming of a scene at a poker table.

The film, “Knight of Cups,” is Bale’s first since retiring his Batman cape, reportedly for good, after wrapping “The Dark Knight Rises” late last year.

Casey was featured in this space about two years ago, in an article about his decision to give up his Elvis persona to pursue other interests in the entertainment world.

His new direction has apparently paid off with a role as a movie extra.

Casey has been the driving force behind the success of the Knight Rider Festival, which attracts owners of the KITT cars and fans of the “Knight Rider” series that starred David Hasselhoff.

A songwriter as well, Casey submitted a theme song for the “Lone Ranger” film that has been in delay.

After shooting Bale in Garden of the Gods pools and the casino Wednesday, renowned director Terrence Malick was scheduled to move the cameras to the desert Thursday.

Because Malick is also shooting “Lawless” with “Knight of Cups” co-stars Bale and Natalie Portman, there has been speculation that some of the scenes could be in the works for “Lawless.” Also co-starring with Bale in “Cups” are Cate Blanchett and Aussie star Isabel Lucas. The latter was in the poker table scene.
