Child porn arrests follow citizen tips

Las Vegas police said Wednesday that citizen tips led to the arrests of two men suspected of being sexual predators.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested 53-year-old Gary Walter Laatz of Las Vegas on Wednesday and recommended charging him with 11 counts of possession of child pornography.

On Friday, after an investigation by the same unit, police arrested 23-year-old Pedro Pablo Mancilla-Sanchez and recommended charging him with five counts of child pornography.

Police said in January that a citizen reported finding a computer and computer disks containing child pornography. Police said that several witnesses identified Laatz as the owner of the computer and disks.

Police said in February that a man had been seen taking photographs of girls. An investigation led to Mancilla-Sanchez.

Police said they determined a computer owned by Mancilla-Sanchez contained pornographic photos of children between the ages of 2 and 16.
